Biography
El Dr. Rafael Valdés-Mas completó su doctorado en 2016 (España), centrado en la genómica del cáncer y el papel del microbioma en el envejecimiento acelerado. Durante su etapa postdoctoral en el Instituto Weizmann (Israel), investigó las interacciones entre el huésped y el microbioma en salud y enfermedad, incluyendo los efectos de los probióticos sobre el microbioma intestinal humano, la influencia de los edulcorantes no calóricos en el microbioma y las respuestas glucémicas, y el desarrollo pionero de nuevas terapias con fagos para enfermedades inflamatorias intestinales. Actualmente es Investigador Principal Junior en el CIMA – Universidad de Navarra (España), donde estudia el papel del huésped, el microbioma y la dieta para caracterizar las complejidades del inicio, desarrollo y tratamiento del cáncer.»
Dr. Rafael Valdes-Mas completed his PhD in 2016 (Spain), focusing on cancer genomics and the microbiome’s role in accelerated aging. During his postdoctoral research at the Weizmann Institute (Israel), he investigated host-microbiome interactions in health and disease, including the effects of probiotics on the human gut microbiome, the influence of non-nutritive sweeteners on the microbiome and glycemic responses, and pioneering novel phage therapies for inflammatory bowel disease. He is currently a Junior Principal Investigator at CIMA – University of Navarra (Spain), exploring the roles of the host, microbiome, and diet to unravel the complexities of cancer onset, development, and treatment.»
